"Algae cleanup in Powderhorn Lake" Your Park Board tax dollars at work. Connor with Bluewater Science, an environmental science firm contracted by our Park Board, retrieves and cuts away potato bags that hold barley straw in place under water. The barley straw attracts algae and other bacteria with the aim of making Powderhorn Lake clearer.
“Powderhorn Stray" There is no shortage of stray kitties in Powderhorn. Fortunately for this kitty and all of us, there is one less to worry about. Today after many months of gaining the trust and familiarity of this sweet cat, I was able to lure it into a live trap. I took it to my friend Mona who will assess its health and be able to heal its wounds, both inside and out, with the hope that someone decides to adopt it. It takes a village to stand up for those in need and so worth the effort to make even the smallest of creature’s life a bit better.
"Sunshine On My Shoulders" Memorial Day Weekend is a popular time for gardening, and Bernice Arias took advantage of the beautiful weather to work in her backyard. A resident of the neighborhood for a couple of years now, she's the instructor of the very popular Zumba classes offered through Out In The Backyard at Powderhorn Park.
