"Reflected Winter Scene" This is a main window at the park building with some vivid, sunlit reflections in it. It shows the winter scene by the wading pool, with the fenced enclosure around it. I like the mishmash of the details that give the photo kind of a surreal quality. We can see some clearly readable signs with backward lettering, someone running on the sidewalk past the mail van, the texture of the tree trunk, and in the middle of the window, the lighter square of light displays the scene within the room out the back window overlooking the lake. Of course, the colorful and cool-shaped bike racks offset the window reflections, reminding us that this layer is the most clear and present one.
"Sunshine" After beautiful fluffy snow yesterday the sun was out in full force today. Unfortunately with the bright sun comes the freezing cold!
"The White Page" It was dark out, but there were lights on in the old Modern Window Shade building at 3400 Cedar. I could see through the window that folks were working on something new. Turns out, The White Page Collective is opening a new studio space in our neighborhood and the founders were getting ready for their Monday night meeting. According to their website (www.the-white-page.com), the new studio space will house a darkroom, a woodshop, a ceramic studio, and more. They are having their first exhibition in the space on 2/17 at 7pm. Pictured here from left to right are co-founders Kathryn (Kate) Sheldon, Alexis (Axel) Stiteler, Rebecca Spangenthal, & Alanah Luger-Guillaume. Welcome to the neighborhood!
