"Tree Truncated" This is a tree who's had a hard time of it over the last several months. It seems that the park service, or whoever decides these things, has it in for this particular one, next to the tennis courts by Wilder School, on Powderhorn's west side hill. The tree has been trimmed to the point that it has been transformed into an abstract sculpture, dramatic against the finally bright sky (all my other Wednesdays have been overcast). The powers that be are saying, "Don't grow anymore, stop! You're a goner!" I expect it to be gone in the spring, but it was still trying last summer to put out a few tentative, hopeful leaves from one of it's stumps. Sadly, to no avail.
