"Wonder"
“Wild Wetland Iris” This specimen was photographed at the northwest corner of Powderhorn Lake. I believe that it is Blue Flag Iris. I wouldn’t mind being corrected by someone with more knowledge about Minnesota wildflowers.
"Hawk Eyes are watching" These two fledgling Cooper's Hawks have stayed in their home for a very few weeks now, getting fed by Mom and Dad. Here they are (two of three chicks) watching for the next mouse (or whatever) to get served them. They are also watching you. Very soon, within a couple of days, they will be testing their wings for the first time. These young hawks live in a high nest just off the walk path near 35th St. and the alley that runs beside the park on the west side. Welcome to Powderhorn, young hunters.
