"Mother's Day Blooms" These amazing irises were in full bloom for Mother's Day! The sea of vibrant purple planted on a corner surrounded by sidewalks caught my eye. Spring in Powderhorn is quite beautiful thanks to neighbors who provide us with colorful flowers like these each year!
"Blue Scilla" Closer...closer... Tiny Scilla Siberica blossoms appeared this week along with Baltimore orioles sporting orange highlights, and goldfinches finally turning yellow.
"Holding Up The School" Erin Glynn is the principal of Bancroft Elementary School, located just across the 38th street border in the Bancroft neighborhood. But she has lived for many years in Powderhorn, just a stone's throw from the school. We took this photo near her house as she prepared to go back to Bancroft after a full day, to help out with the plant sale for three hours. After taking this photo, Felix commented, "it looks like you're holding up the school" - to which she said, "sometimes it feels that way." A tireless person with a smile for everyone and a passion for excellence, she is a force to be reckoned with!
