"Fortune Chain" 2015 is already looking good. Happy New Year's Eve!
"Powderhorn Park Wedding" My daughter Kiah married her beloved in the Park late Sunday afternoon, and I took this right before they left for the snowy picnic that started their ceremony. The canoe paddles are symbolic of them paddling off into their new life together.
"Joy to Powderhorn!" Despite the brown Christmas, homes are still beautifully decorated around Powderhorn. This lovely tree belongs to dear neighbors of ours. I'm hoping you all had a joyous day, and I'm wishing you all hope and peace in the new year to come! Thank you for a great year!
"Photo Assistant" My puppy, Roscoe, has been my photo assistant most of the year. He walks the neighborhood with me (usually with a large stick or branch in his mouth) and finds unusual aspects of Powderhorn to photograph. Thank you, Roscoe, and thank you to everyone who loves Powderhorn365!

"Sick Day" My son, Felix, (pictured here) was sick with the flu, so we did not get out of the house the entire day. Our trusty dog, Carlina, kept Felix company while he napped and watched PBS Kids. She didn't seem to mind too much....though if someone had offered her a walk in the park she would not have turned them down
"Neighborhood Fixture" I have a soft spot for this stalwart little shop, and on a gray day like this Tuesday, its neon sign gives Bloomington a little warmth.
"Latvian Christmas Pageant Rehearsal" Christmas pageant practice at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Minneapolis and St. Paul at 32rd and 17th. I've ridden past this church a zillion times and never knew it is a center of Latvian culture in the US. Besides the church, the building houses the Latvian School where children learn Latvian culture - language, song, and folk dance. Latvian immigrants bought the building from the original Norwegian Lutheran congregation in 1951, and it's been home to four generations of families with Latvian heritage. I had wonderful conversations with Janis, one of the teachers and father to some of the kids in the pageant, and Mara, a parent and documentary filmmaker. Janis' parents brought their family to the US after World War II, and he grew up coming to this church. "Self-Portrait with Hood and Hat and Scarf" A severely bundled self-portrait closes out my year as a Powderhorn 365 photographer. 2014 was also my first full year living in Powderhorn, and being part of P365 was a fantastic way to explore the neighborhood and meet some fellow residents and photography fans. Onward!

"My Mom (by Maizie Brown)" (from Katie): I badly wanted to share one of the many photos I took today of myself looking all beautiful and put-together for the self-portrait, but none of them seemed to be "just right." However, this photo my 9-year-old daughter also took today, while we were in the process of making the secret-family-recipe Christmas cookies that we take to all of our neighbors every year. It was the most truthful representation of who I am out of all of the photos, and so it is the one that will be used! Thank you all for viewing Thursdays through my lens this year! What a fun journey!

"Senior Moment" A longtime Powderhorn resident, Tang is 14 and a 1/2 years old and in the final stages of her life journey. She is a loving and loyal dog who adores Powderhorn Park, her human pack, bacon, and goose poop. I'm grateful to have been a part of her life, and to know her caregiver, who coaxed her out of her shell and nurtured her all these years.

"Holiday Lights Selfie" It has been so fun being part of Powderhorn365 this past year. We have learned so much about our neighborhood and ourselves by taking these photos, and will miss our Friday photo-taking. Best of luck to the 2015 P365 crew!
Overcast skies and no snow on the roofs or roads made for an unusual late December. I loved the effect of the city lit sky and the Christmas lights.
"Ingebretsen's on the last Saturday before Christmas" There was a line on the sidewalk outside and a helpful Nordic elf issuing numbers to enter the store. Overheard: "It's been years since I've been here and I didn't know if you were still open ... but I'm so glad I came down Lake Street!"
"Wednesday Photographer Self Portrait" Thank you Powderhorn365! It has been a wonderful year taking the Wednesday photos. I would like to dedicate my year of photographs to my sweet daughter Freya. All the best to Powderhorn and all who sail in her!
"Ascent/Descent" We have started seeing (and hearing) the crows in Powderhorn this week. I found these crows while looking straight up through a window of tree branches on Elliot.
"Delivery Day" It's an epic day (if you're a 4-year-old)! The Southside Farm Store is getting a delivery of dog food today! That means a semi pulls up, a forklift comes off the back of it, and a friendly driver drives it up the street while waving and honking. He can even drive it backwards!
