"Holding Up The School" Erin Glynn is the principal of Bancroft Elementary School, located just across the 38th street border in the Bancroft neighborhood. But she has lived for many years in Powderhorn, just a stone's throw from the school. We took this photo near her house as she prepared to go back to Bancroft after a full day, to help out with the plant sale for three hours. After taking this photo, Felix commented, "it looks like you're holding up the school" - to which she said, "sometimes it feels that way." A tireless person with a smile for everyone and a passion for excellence, she is a force to be reckoned with!
"Elanor" This is Adventurous Elanor. She's fearless and she's spunky. And she (barely) held still long enough for this photo.
"Infestation" Practically a year-out from a devastating windstorm, that wreaked havoc across our neighborhood, this house at 3325 17th Ave S, which was literally cracked by an enormous tree falling on its north side, still awaits repair. As if that's not enough to make you shake your fist at the insurance industry, to add insult to injury, it seems a giant stag beetle is trying to move in! Actually, the home's owner, Xena Huff, has parked her marvelous May Day parade figure here, in a post-parade B-horror film gesture, of sorts. Well--if she still can't live there--at least her giant stag beetle can!
