There is not a lot of color out this time of year, but this flowering cabbage is hanging on!
"Busy Saturday afternoon at Ingebretsen's"
Powderhorn Park cultural heritage leans heavily toward Scandinavian,
and generations of families grew up shopping for special holiday gifts
and food at Ingebretsen's on Lake Street. On Saturday afternoons like
this, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's not unusual to see four
or five butchers cutting and wrapping meat, smoked fish, and lutefisk
as fast as shoppers can work their way up to the counter.
Text: Covered by fake wood paneling for 50 years, this piano window was recently revealed by my sister and her husband who just bought this 1919 Powderhorn house. It will bring some much appreciated natural light into their living room, especially on the dark wintry days ahead.
