"The actors wait for their cue" Rehearsing/waiting for their scene in Walker Church for their musical revue, "I Always Wanted to Do that Scene!” Sat, Sept 11, 7 pm & Sun, Sept 12, 2 pm
"Flamingos and Anthony Shane Florist" I chanced upon this scene today, and I had a good time meeting people and looking at their wares. Anthony Shane Florist and Flamingos are located in Powderhorn neighborhood in Minneapolis. Anthony Shane bought the building and moved his shop of 16 years from 19th and Nicollet in November 2009. New address: 3404 Cedar Avenue South, Minneapolis. Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information: www.anthonyshaneflorist.com or call 612.871.9388. Flamingos is open once a month for occasional sales by several vendors (including Linda and Tim, pictured here), and it’s happening this Wednesday through Sunday, September 8 through 12, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. I saw all kinds of vintage furniture on the sidewalk in front of the stores. I had to see what was happening. The first floor and basement are full of all sorts of collectible and antique dishes, lamps, furniture, artwork, knickknacks, old photos, books, and other items. Many of the vendors are local. It’s a welcoming environment and full of what are called “divine finds.” For future sales dates, www.flamingosdivinefinds.com or call 612.767.4548.
"Powderhorn Fall Sports Begin" It was great to see the park full tonight with families, walkers and runners, and dozens of soccer and football players training for the fall season. I love to see all those girls and boys doing something constructive and healthy and representing our neighborhood. You can support the youth sports program by coming to cheer on our kids and/or volunteering to coach, fundraise, or otherwise organize the teams. For more information contact Powderhorn Park at 612-370-4960.
