"Book release!" Hot off the press and available for purchase is Powderhorn365: 2009, Volume 1. The site's creator and director Amy Wurdock writes in her introduction: "It is no secret that I love our neighborhood. No person who dares mention the concept of 'neighborhood' is safe from my exuberant diatribes on the subject. Yet, no matter how much I wave my hands, beat my fists, or jump up and down, I am constantly frustrated by my inability to adequately describe the beauty and community and personalities that make this place so special." She called on six photographers and herself to take a photo a week for year 2009, aided by guest photographers, to show the many facets of Powderhorn neighborhood. Each day's photo is included this collection (thus, 365 days in the year). In light of recent media focus on problems in south Minneapolis, this is a glimpse of what else happens here and why many of us like city life. Thank you, Amy and Leonie Thomas (HECUA intern and book co-editor and designer), for making this book happen. For the book, go to Blurb Books.
