"Frances Shows off Her Dress" It's got three layers of shiny sparkles and a jacket that can come on and off. The shorts underneath didn't come with the dress though. This was the bus stop talk this morning as Frances and Luca waited for their school bus to whisk them from 14th Ave at 32nd St for yet another amazing day of South Side Family School (not quite in the P-Horn, but still super cool and a favorite to many P-Horners).
"Loch Powderhorn Monster" Mutant goose lands in Powderhorn Lake! That or a traveling sculpture has paid us a visit (http://www.lakecreature.com/). ¡Gansos mutantes en Powderhorn Lake! Eso o una escultura ambulante que nos ha visitado (http://www.lakecreature.com/).
"Game, set, and match" The tennis courts on the northwest side of the park met their match and lost today under the direction of Minneapolis Parks and Recreation. The courts were truly in terrible condition for playing tennis, and the fence around it was a safety hazard (though many in the neighborhood used the courts to exercise dogs off leash, or to teach kids to ride bikes). According to District 3 Commissioner Scott Vreeland it was cheaper to remove the courts than to repair them. Neighbors had strong feelings about this, but the unsafe fence meant the courts were lost. You can read about the issue at Powderhorn's E-democracy Forum, search for the issue "tennis courts." (Thanks for the tip, Gayla!)
