"100 Years" The cornerstone of Walker Community United Methodist Church was laid in 1909, 100 years ago. The church was formed in 1886, in a small wood framed building on 32nd Street, but by 1905 needed more space for its congregation of 250 people. The church building has been a home to the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre, KFAI Radio, Center for Local Self-Reliance and the Minneapolis Ensemble at various times over the past 40 years. "Our mission is to nurture spirituality, build caring community & work courageously for peace with justice. All are welcome within these walls, the community is stronger with every new member."
