"Division of Indian Work" Have you ever driven by the Division of Indian Work building on Lake street and wonder what they did in there? Nigel Perote gave me the tour and I was impressed. Turns out they are saving the world. In one moderately sized building they have a food shelf, a youth leadership program, a day care, community space, adult programs, a program for youth that have been bounced around foster care, a family violence program, affordable housing support, and doulas...and that is just the first two floors of the building. The third floor houses the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, who have en equally long and impressive collection of programs to help our community. There are over 200 volunteers that help keep this place running, so if you would like to find out more check them out at gmcc.org/diw.
