"Poet on Porch"
Ed Bok Lee and daughter Idouna stand under lanterns Bridget and Ed had at their wedding. I am super happy these artists are next-door neighbors. And the baby is a delight. They are gentle and talented people. Ed is a writer of poetry, plays, and prose. I first heard him read at an Art Blocks event in the front yard of Emmanuel Ortiz and Jessica Lopez Lyman. One poem he read that day was “Powderhorn Dream,” which will be in the Powderhorn365 2016 book. It was also published in Into Quarterly, 12/2016, an incredible look at Minneapolis via visual and word artists. His next book of poems will be published in 2018 and will contain this poem. Ed is the author of several works and has received many honors and awards (see http://www.edboklee.com). He grew up in South Korea, North Dakota, and Minnesota. He was educated there and on both U.S. coasts, Russia, Kazakhstan, and South Korea. Bridget is a writer, a visual artist, and a beekeeper. She works with the Bee Squad of the University of Minnesota. She is from Monterey, MA and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota. Bridget is the author of Sun Creatures (Nous-zōt Press, 2016), a chapbook with writings about bees. Her drawings from What Would Metamorphosis Be Like? can be savored in this past March's issue of The Believer at https://logger.believermag.com/post/stories-of-self-vol-7-reciprocity-with-robin-wall-kimmerer.
