Powderhorn365 ::About[Read about our 2013 photographers listed above by clicking the name.]
Powderhorn365 is a collaborative effort by 7 photographers taking pictures in Powderhorn Neighborhood, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Powderhorn Neighborhood, on Minneapolis’ south side, takes its name from Powderhorn Lake, a small lake in Powderhorn Park which is shaped like a powder horn. People gather for cultural activities and large community events in the park. Recreation also includes individual and team sports, playgrounds, tennis courts, walking paths, a fishing dock, wildlife viewing, people watching, ice skating, roller blading, and basketball. The park building is used for many activities like meetings, pottery studios, sports and games, classes, and voting. The neighborhood is bound on the north by Lake Street, on the east by Cedar Avenue South, on the south by 38th Street East, and on the west by Chicago Avenue ("Powderhorn Park," City of Minneapolis website). Each year, weekly photographers have committed to each taking a picture one day a week so that we will have a picture a day for an entire year of the people and places that make up our home. Occasionally, a guest photographer will fill in when a weekly one can't do so on his or her day of the week. If you are interested in having your picture taken or filling in as a guest photographer, please contact us. If you have photos of the neighborhood, please feel free to join our Flickr Group* stream where you can upload your pictures to share with friends and neighbors. (These will not appear on our featured photo of the day, however.) (For more information on Powderhorn Park Neighborhood, please visit Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association. Link at top right of website page. In 2012, Powderhorn365 became a program of PPNA, which is providing staff and financial support.) |
